The First Lady
When this card appeared in front of my consultations, she told me about the virgin and her protection. A female force observing and accompanying my experiences in order to possess the necessary knowledge to advance my path.
The priestess, also known as the Pope, is recognized for being the first woman of the major arcana. According to Jodorowsky she represents “the accumulation of experience” because it refers us to the mother and her spiritual wisdom.
Visually, she sits on a throne between two columns connected by a curtain. The two columns, one solar and another lunar, the dark and the light, has to do with their numerology. The mantle that connects them represents the virginity by its white or celestial color (depending on the deck). All these elements allow us to visualize an entrance to the sanctuary.
- In the case of his dress, we see that he has a blue mantle over his red dress. We also see details in the neck, and yellow cords. His blue mantle speaks of water as an element and symbolizes that his entire inner world is protected.
- Again we observe the duality in the possession of a book with two keys. One is gold and the other silver. Gold is the sun and reason while silver is the moon and emotion. Without the sun there is no moon, for it is a reflection of the light of the star. This speaks to us of an internal reflection in the subconscious of the consultant.
- The book is the book of books, the Torah, which allows the priestess to possess the secrets of the world or hidden knowledge. On the other hand, his tiara or crown represents the three phases of the moon, increasing, full and waning. This introduces us to the concept of the trinity.
In front of our consultant
Beyond the fact that every roll depends on the cards that surround it, the Priestess represents a search for spirituality and knowledge. When he refers to a person he tells us that he is a cultured, reserved woman with a strong conception of morality. It can also refer to the female consciousness of the consultant. In its inverted state, it can tell us that our feminine energy is not being applied correctly. If the consultant asks about another person, he may be talking about a woman with bad influences and intentions.
Numerology
In numerology we see that it represents the number two. While the one is the man, the two is the woman. It speaks of a person who has sensitivity and empathy. A being open to your emotions, vulnerable and intuitive, qualities that we can see present in any woman. It communicates to us about two energies: spirit and matter. Anyway, let’s not forget that we all have masculine energy and feminine energy and that we must learn to balance and take advantage of what both offer.
Conclusion
In conclusion the Priestess is a spiritual source that protects the knowledge of the world. Representative of reflective power, of wisdom and of all feminine qualities.
