The serenity

An immobile being. He is upside down supported by his foot. According to Jodorowsky “Stop, meditation, gift of itself. (…) Indicates a state of accumulation, stoppage or imprisonment”.

• We see a young man hanging from his left foot, head down. His right foot is crossed; this refers to the image of the Emperor. The rope is tied to a green gallows, supported by two trees whose branches are cut. We see that each tree has six cuts.
• The hangman’s arms are behind his body, crossed. This tells us about the character’s immobility. An inactivity process that will be needed. The fact of being suspended in the air, makes us think of a process of isolation. Let us not confuse this process with that of the Hermit, since the objective of the Hanged one is to invest its way of thinking.
• We see in their garments, the colors yellow, blue and red as predominant. We will see that the belt and the border with the buttons of his garment represent a cross. In turn the jacket is divided in two, this refers to the concept of duality.
• The Hangman is inverted and his hair is sunk in the ground. This indicates that it is submerged in a cycle end. We are in a stage of change, where we must submerge and touch bottom to be able to rise to the surface with the learning of the lived. That is why we are in a process whose goal is to regenerate our energy.

In front of our consultant

Always keep in mind that a card is conditioned by the next ones to it in a roll and by the question of the consultant. Having clarified this, we can say that it represents a person in the process of internal change. It may be breaking structures, because what often is imposed to us as correct is what prevents us in the future to become ourselves in essence. The person will change his perspective of the past or an event of the same. Surely what it saw as negative, will take it as a teaching.

If this card is reversed we are surely in front of a consultant stuck in a situation. It may be a prisoner of its thoughts and therefore it is not listening to its spirit. On the other hand, we may be attached to a person or situation difficult to release.

Numerology

It corresponds to the number twelve. We will see that this is represented in the cut branches of two trees. Again the number two is presented to make us see the duality, the entrance to a temple, an exit. The number twelve also refers to the twelve signs of the zodiac.

To Conclude

Many times, we need a process of isolation to be able to regenerate spiritually. It allows us the possibility to reflect from our soul and not from our mind. Remember that the mind deceives, generates unnecessary and repetitive thoughts. That is why the hanged gives us the mystical serenity to learn and move forward.
