This card, in its universal interpretation, is related to the myth of Hercules at the Crossroads. Our protagonist has to choose between two paths that are personified by two women called vice and Virtue. This teaches us that sometimes we are faced with decisions that are difficult to solve, since this may be the choice between two opposites.
According to Jodorowsky, we can associate this card with the social life of the consultant. It may be a mother interacting with her two children, a son introducing his girlfriend, a daughter to her boyfriend etc. That is why beyond decision making, you can talk about emotional situations involving encounters or separations.
- Visually we can see the presence of four characters. In the earthly plane we have the lover. His clothes have complementary colors (red with green and blue with yellow). This opposition speaks of his indecision.
- He is between two women of different natures. We have a young woman and an older woman. Both interact with the lover differently and therefore give a different message.
- On the celestial plane we can see an angelic figure that personifies Cupid. His arrow guides us toward decision making and chance. Communicates the importance of fate in conflict resolution.
- The sun that contains the figure of the angel is the one that gives us the inner illumination that we need to choose the best for us. Its multi-colored rays represent universal love.
